Advocacy for comprehensive sexual and reproductive Health information & services
We believe universal access to sexual and reproductive health and rights, including family planning, is essential. All Kenyans, especially poor and vulnerable women, have the right to make their own free and informed choices. This includes control over their sexual and reproductive health and lives, free from coercion, violence, discrimination and abuse.
The definition of good sexual and reproductive health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, in all matters relating to the reproductive system. It implies the person has the ability to have a satisfying and safe sex life and the capability to reproduce, as well as the freedom to decide if, when, and how often to do so.
VOCAL advocates for a comprehensive information and services for sexual and reproductive health. This means access to accurate information, as well as safe, effective, affordable and acceptable contraception, for all. We work with vulnerable and marginalized communities to educate them on how to protect themselves from sexually transmitted infections. When the woman decides to have children, they must have access to services that assures that they have a safe pregnancy and delivery and a healthy baby.
The truth is women use contraception not only as a way to prevent unintended pregnancies, but also to improve their health and the health of their families. Increased access to contraception is directly linked to declines in maternal and infant mortality.
